President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin along with Acting Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Andrey Travnikov and the SB RAS Chairman, the Global Energy Prize-2011 laureate Valentin Parmon, discussed the development of the Novosibirsk Science Center “Akademgorodok 2.0” at the 6th International Forum of Technological Development “Technoprom-2018” in Novosibirsk.

35 projects will be implemented in the primary scientific areas of the SB RAS within the science center’s framework. These programs are intended to scale-up the advanced technologies, create centers of collective use and new productions on the science center’s basis. The projects listed include the creation of a synchrotron radiation source SKIF SKP, the Genetic Technologies Center, Aerodynamics, Thermophysics and Hydrodynamics Center as well as and others.

The head of state inspected the layouts of the Super S-Tau Factory accelerator complex, aimed at ensuring the leading position of the Russian science in high-energy physics, and the SKIF synchrotron, which will allow the Russian products to compete in the global market in the field of high-tech business.

Vladimir Putin said that scientific and technological breakthrough is one of the critical priorities for the state development. The President is confident that Russia is capable of making a technological breakthrough, and to do so, it is necessary to unite the efforts of the state, business and science. New technologies determine the effectiveness of the economy, improve the quality of people’s lives and provide the security.

The International Forum of Technological Development “Tekhnoprom”, held annually in Novosibirsk, is one of the largest technological events in Russia. It traditionally takes decisions that affect the development of the economy of the whole country, high-level officials, heads of the industry leaders act, present the latest innovative developments and attract billions of investments in high-tech and innovative start-ups. The key theme of the forum in 2018 is Science as an industry in the “ideal storm” conditions.

Valentin Parmon is a Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the RAS since 2017, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the 2016 Global Energy Prize laureate, the specialist in the fields of catalysis and photocatalysis, chemical kinetics in condensed phases, chemical radio spectroscopy, chemical methods of energy conversion. He received the Global Energy Prize in 2016 for the breakthrough development of new catalysts in the field of oil refining and renewable energy sources, which have made a fundamental contribution to the development of the energy sector of the future.
