SCIENTIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS
- Lars G Larsson is a world-famous expert on nuclear power plant safety, the utilization of radioactive waste and the effect of nuclear energy on the environment.
- Larsson’s research on the environmental impact of nuclear energy proved to be essential in various emergency situations. In particular, Lars G Larsson participated in investigating and reporting on the Three Mile Island Accident in Pennsylvania (United States) in 1979.
- Was the Deputy Director General at the Swedish Nuclear Power Inspectorate, which was responsible for the safe operation of all of the country’s nuclear sites, and was the head of the office of inspection.

INTERESTING FACTS
- Although Lars G Larsson has always lived and worked in Sweden, his best-known achievements are closely connected with Russia. Specifically, he helped to restore normal background radiation in the Russian arctic zone. Russian arctic waters currently contain a large quantity of sunken objects containing radioactive waste; this is the legacy of the Cold War. In 2003, it was decided on an international level that these objects should be eliminated as fully as possible.
- Much of Lars G Larsson’s work were done in close cooperation with Russian scientist academician A.A. Sarkisov.
