Rosatom to build new reactors in Russia

This is a serious task. In the meantime, we conducted an assessment and I must say the job is a difficult one as we will be taking off stream our old RBMK reactors,” Kamenskikh said. “To make up for that and reach 25 %, we will need to build six or seven reactors.”

Rosatom has already begun working out the details with the Energy Ministry.

Kamenskikh said Rosatom’s energy production this year will be 3.4 % higher than planned.

“In terms of energy production, the level towards the end of the year had been set at 207 billion kilowatt hours – our production will probably reach 214. That means we will have a big surplus,” he said. “I believe this is a very good result. We are approaching the Soviet-era record of 215 billion and a bit extra. But at that time, we had five more reactors than there are today.”
