Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor Yuriy Petrenya is a prominent scientist and specialist in the field of power engineering. He is engaged in theoretical and experimental research of physical and technical processes in power equipment, organization and implementation of scientific research both for the main power machine building companies and enterprises of Russia (Power Machines, OMZ, boiler and turbine plants), Rosnanotech, Gazprom etc., and the world’s leading power engineering companies (General Electric, Siemens, Alstom, Toshiba, MHI et al.). Yuriy Petrenya manages programs to create new generations of equipment in the field of stationary power engineering; he is a member of the Council of General and Chief Designers, leading scientists and specialists in the field of high-tech sectors of the economy under the Government of the Russian Federation, and a member of the Government Commission for the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP. In addition, the scientist is the Chairman of the Specialized Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on the problems of heat and power engineering, a member of several scientific councils of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the organizing committee of scientific and technical conferences on energy within the framework of the international project PowerGen, the Spanish intergovernmental commission, the Russian-Czech intergovernmental commission. Head of the Department of Energy and Electrical Engineering of St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University n. a. Peter the Great.
