The President of the Global Energy Association, Sergey Brilev, toured the coal mine and held talks with the Governor of Kemerovo Region, Sergei Tsivilev.

The visit took place to mark the 300th anniversary of the Kuzbass region in Siberia. And the event is the subject of a new documentary film by Sergey Brilev. During the visit, the president of Global Energy toured the Yalevsky mine and the coal-producing company Siberian Coal Energy Compsny (SUEK), located in Prokopyevsky district. Sergei Brilev descended to the coalface at a depth of 380 metres.

Other stops during the visit included Azot in Kemerovo, one of Russia’s biggest producers of fertiliser and ammonium nitrate, and the KOKS complex, specialised in producing coke for steel production.

Steam Energy Storage Plant

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has provided MGA Thermal with $1.27 million to build a pilot plant for steam generation from the accumulated thermal energy. The plant will be able to store 5 MWh of energy at a time, follows from the ARENA message.

A Solar Powered Airship

The scientists at the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) have developed an aerostat resembling an airship that can be used for cargo delivery in the Arctic and other remote regions of Russia. The solar-powered airship, named Ecodisolar, uses air lifting gas to save energy for vertical movement.
