
A Constellation of Satellites to Monitor Methane Emissions
TROPOMI device located aboard Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor satellite, in 2019-2020 detected 1,800 methane emissions exceeding 25 tons per hour. Two-thirds of them were related to the world’s largest oil and gas basins and pipelines. This is set forth in an article written by authors from NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), published in the Science Magazine.
