Startup BigMoon Power, based in the Canadian province of Halifax, has developed a prototype plant that will generate electricity from the energy of ocean tides. The innovation will be applied in the Bay of Fundy located on the east coast of Canada.
As it follows from the basic scenario forecast of the International Nuclear Association, the global demand for uranium for nuclear reactors will increase by 27% by 2030, i.e. to 79.4 thousand tons versus 62.5 thousand in 2021. The conservative scenario assumes an increase by 12% (up to 70 thousand tons) while an optimistic scenario – by 58% (up to 99 thousand tons).
According to the Rystad Energy study, global spending on the CO2 capture, storage and transportation services (Carbon capture, utilisation and storage – CCUS) will increase from $4.2 billion in 2022 to $11 billion in 2023, $18 billion in 2024 and $19 billion in 2025. So, cumulative spending in the CCUS industry will exceed $50 billion during that period.
American startup Lift Well International (LWI) has developed a revolutionary artificial lift method that does not require downhole equipment. The new method will be used in the fields that are unsuitable for conventional vertical drilling.
