Five investment trends in world energy

The share of low-carbon industries in global energy investment increased from 46% to 59% from 2015 to 2021 and is set to pick up 60% in 2022, as it follows from the annual report of the World Energy Investment published by the International Energy Agency.

Russian scientists have tested the way to make Graetzel cells less expensive

The scientists from the National Research University of Electronic Technology (MIET) and the researchers from the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) have tested one of the methods for cost reduction of Graetzel cells, which are dye-sensitised solar cells, named after their developer Michael Graetzel, the Global Energy Prize laureate. The innovation comes down to the use of a metal-free dye instead of expensive ruthenium meant to impart photosensitivity to the materials used in a cell.

Egypt to build the largest wind farm in the Middle East

A consortium of investors headed by Saudi power generation company ACWA Power has signed an agreement with the Egyptian government on development of a 1.1 GW wind farm project to be located on the Suez Canal coast. A $1.5 billion complex is to be commissioned by the end of 2026 with the participation of Egyptian engineering and construction company Hassan Allam Holding.
