Nanocomposite sensor for oil leaks control

The Direct-C company, created in 2014 by the University of Calgary professor Simon Park, has raised $3.9 mln for a commercialisation of the sensor platform, which allows controlling oil and oil products leaks from pipelines. The technology key feature is utilisation of nanocomposite polymer-based material, with which one can monitor change of temperature on the pipe surface or occurrence of deformations.

Indian company Renkube has raised 24 mln Indian rupees (around $300000) for production of glass that might boost solar panels’ efficiency by 20%. The development allows to keep the photo-electric panels in line with the Sun without mechanical drives usage.
