Copper instead of silver: an inexpensive alternative for solar energy

Australian company SunDrive has increased the efficiency of its own photovoltaic panel from 26.07% to 26.41% during laboratory testing, which is well above the average solar conversion efficiency (16% to 20%). As says the PV Magazine, an industry publication, the experiment results were officially confirmed by the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hameln (Germany).

New catalyst for biodiesel production

The scientists from MISiS University in collaboration with researchers from India, Qatar and Latvia, have synthesised a new industrial catalyst for the biofuel production. The experiment results were published in the Asian Journal of Chemistry.

Micro-hydroelectric plant for industrial consumers

Japan’s Yumes Frontier has developed a 2.7 kW micro-hydroelectric plant that can be installed in a plumbing system with the height difference exceeding four metres and a water flow of at least four litres per second. The plant can be used for partial transfer to off-grid power supply of industrial and office buildings and water treatment facilities.
