Indonesia to build 220 MW geothermal plant

INPEX, a Japanese oil and gas company, has acquired a 31.45% stake in the Rajabasa geothermal power plant project, which will be implemented in Indonesian province of Lampung in the south of Sumatra. The company will offer its proprietary well-drilling technology to the project participants: Indonesian PT Supreme Energy, French ENGIE SA and Japanese Sumitomo Corporation.

Russian scientists put forward new way to reduce oil viscosity

Scholars from the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Geology and Petroleum Technologies of Kazan Federal University (KFU) have developed a microwave aquathermolysis technology that allows extraction of high-viscosity oil from reservoirs lying at depths exceeding one kilometre. The findings were published in the Catalysts Journal, which is issued by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI).
