In the context of a very strong drought, Uruguay is striving to diversify its energy sources, Fitzgerald Cantero, National Director for Energy, Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining reported at the first conference of the Regional to Global cycle taking place in Punta del Este (Uruguay).
The main objective of the energy programmes implemented in Latin America is not the energy transition and diversifying the energy sources, but assuring higher social and economic living standards for the citizens, Alfonso Blanco, the General Secretary of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) stated in his speech at the first conference of the Regional to Global cycle taking place in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
The Global Energy Association held the first ever Regional to Global conference in Latin America. The event, held at the crossroads of the MERCOSUR integration association (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay), in the Uruguayan city of Punta del Este, was dedicated to the role of Latin America in the world energy and the prospects of using clean energy sources in the region.
Global Energy Association issued the Honorary Diploma to Ruben Chaer, professor of the University of the Republic in Montevideo, the Manager of the Uruguay’s Administration of the Electricity Market. The event took place during the international conference “Regional to Global: Latin America” in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
On February 2, during the Regional to Global Conference organized by the Global Energy in Uruguay, Sergey Brilev, the President of the Association, served the award suite upon Kaushik Rajashekara. The scholar became the 2022 Global Energy Prize laureate in the New Ways of Energy Application nomination.
