“Cooperation with UTEC will increase the awareness of Global Energy in Latin America. As seen in the latest nomination cycle, some progress in this regard was made as early as last year when scientists from eight Latin American countries competed for the Global Energy Prize, with Uruguay’s Ruben Chaer making it to the shortlist. By working with UTEC on joint projects – seminars, roundtables, and conferences – we will be able to further increase the region’s representation in the nomination cycle. All the more so because Latin American scientists have a lot to offer: the region is one of the world’s leaders in oil production buildup and the use of renewable sources in primary energy consumption,” said Dr. Sergey Brilev, President of the Global Energy Association.
The Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) was established in 2012. The University specialises in bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate programmes in over ten engineering professions, including chemical engineering and renewable energy sources engineering.
