Japan now allows building nuclear reactors
On 10 February 2023, the Cabinet of Japan approved termination of a number of restrictions for nuclear energy sector development, Nikkei agency reports. The Cabinet extended the operating life of nuclear power plants (NPPs) to over 60 years and permitted to build innovative reactors of the next generation to replace the existing capacities. The respective legislative drafts will be submitted to the national parliament during the current session.
