Russian scientists are in the process of implementing a comprehensive scientific and technical project targeted at developing geothermal power generation in the Kamchatka Peninsula and in other regions of Russia. The project stipulates for setting up geothermal power plants including application of binary cycle technology, the process of lithium recovery from geothermal brines and petrothermal power generation development.

Scientists from the Emanuel Institute of Biochemical Physics of RAS created a catalyst increasing the hydrogen yield in the process of water electrolysis from 18% up to 67%. This new material is a monolayer crystalline semiconductor based on sulfur, molybdenum, tellurium and selenium. The results of their research are published in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy.
