The construction of Bangladesh’s coal-fired TPP Matarbari, which has a capacity of 1.2 gigawatts (GW), is 95% complete, says the regional media The Business Standard. The project is being implemented in the city of Cox’s Bazar located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal.

China’s State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) has commenced the construction of a pipeline to supply thermal energy from the Haiyang nuclear power plant (NPP) to the city of Weihai in the eastern province of Shandong. The 23-kilometre-long transit pipeline will come into operation before the end of 2023.
