India will build the biggest HPP in the country at border with China

India approved the project of building Dibang, the biggest hydropower plant (HPP) in the country with the total capacity of 2,880 megawatts (MW), the regional publication The Economic Times says. The project with INR 319 bn (USD 3.9 bn) budget will be implemented in Arunachal-Pradesh state located in the North-West of India at the border with the PRC.

China drastically increased pace of approving new coal-fired CHPPs projects

The pace of issuing permits for building coal-fired combined heat-and-power plants (CHPPs) in China went up drastically last year. In 2021, the permits were issued for the plants of total capacity of 23 gigawatts (GW), and in 2022, they were issued for the total capacity of 106 GW, according to Global Energy Monitor. The pace of coal-fired CHPPs grew from 26.2 GW in 2021 гup to 26.8 GW.
