Nickel oxide as electric current conductor – Russian scientists’ research
The scientists from the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences have found out that when nickel monoxide is compressed by a third, it acquires the ability to conduct electric current at the pressure exceeding atmospheric by 2.4 million times. Nickel and its oxide form a tenth of the Earth’s core mass. Therefore, the research results published by the Communications Physics journal can help understand the processes in our planet’s heart.
