The ceremonial gathering will be preceded by a meeting of the International Award Committee, at which a secret ballot will determine the names of winners in the three categories: “Conventional Energy,” “Non-Conventional Energy” and “New Ways of Energy Application.”
The awardees will be selected from a shortlist of 15 scientists from nine countries: China, India, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United States.
“The broad geography of the shortlisted nominations proves that science has no borders or barriers. In turn, the wide variety of research topics, from coal processing to the development of electric motors and nanogenerators, is evidence that energy has an impact on all areas of today’s human life,” said Sergey Brilev, President of the Global Energy Association.
Announcement of the names of the laureates is the final phase of the Global Energy Prize nomination cycle. The first stage, which took place from January 1 to April 20, 2023, saw a record number of participating countries. A total of 90 nominations were received from 48 countries, 16 of which were for the first time.
The Global Energy Prize Award Ceremony will be organised during the Russian Energy Week, an international forum to be held in Moscow on October 11 to 13, 2023.
