”The key drivers of the domestic gas market growth in Russia may be gasification and gas-to-chemicals projects. The growth may reach 100 bcm by 2040. This is the maximum we can count on. Of course this will not compensate the losses we have in the European market, but it is already a quite significant level”, he said.
The domestic gas market development is a key, because the target external market for Russia – the Chinese one – has a number of serious restrictions.
“Thus, the Chinese import niche is not likely to exceed 350 bcm. The competition on behalf of other suppliers is rather strong. So it is very important to timely enter this market, not to be late, not to delay, especially that we have a great competitive advantage with respect to the delivery options and costs – both via pipeline and as LNG”, G. Vygon added.
The key priority for the gas industry should be the development of gas-to-liquids technologies and the set-up of Russian domestic production sites. Simultaneously, Russia needs to develop its own tanker fleet and set up new ship-building yards in order to cope with the growing LNG carriers and other vessels freight volumes.
Digitalisation, artificial intellect systems and GPT-Chat development should be the priority focus.
