“We are living in the era of energy transition, when the entire energy mix structure is changing. As of today, the hydrocarbon energy sources still constitute 85% of the global energy mix; however, despite the fact that traditional energy sources will continue to dominate during the next several decades, their share in the global energy mix will be gradually scaling down”, he emphasised. “The demand for affordable clean energy is growing consistently. Last year, solar and wind energy accounted for 80% of the total commissioned capacity”, he said.
“Decarbonisation of the fuel-and-energy sector stipulates for the growing use of alternative energy sources, decrease of generation costs and energy efficiency improvement. It means, that the break-through scientific developments are of especially acute demand today as they are capable of improving the efficiency of the fuel-and-energy sector”, the Deputy Prime Minister added.
“Let me emphasise that the Russian Federation is a consistent supporter of the international dialogue in science and research based on the principles of equality and mutual respect. It may provide for a powerful impetus for emerging new technologies making the foundation for the future energy sector”, Mr. Novak remarked.
