The Global Energy Prize International Award Committee member, Rector of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI)
Dr. Maksimov was born in Moscow, on June 29, 1970. In 1992, he graduated with honors the Faculty of Chemistry, Lomonosov Moscow State University.
He is one of Russia’s leading scientists in petrochemistry and catalysis. Under his leadership, exploratory studies have been performed on development of new processes of hydrogenation, hydrodearomatisation, hydroisomerisation, and hydrocracking of petroleum fractions using nano-heterogeneous catalysts. Work is underway to create catalysts for selective hydrogenation, hydroisomerisation, hydrocracking of Fischer-Tropsch waxes, oxidation of unsaturated hydrocarbons, tandem transformations of hydrocarbons, hydrogenation of aromatic hydrocarbons and phenols. New approaches to petrochemical processes in two-phase systems and alternative solvents are being developed.
Dr. Maksimov is the author of more than 200 scientific publications, co-author of 2 monographs and 9 patents. He was Scientific Adviser of more than 6 PhD students.
Dr. Maksimov has won several awards for his scientific achievements: the Russian Government Prize in Science and Technology (2012) and the Lomonosov Prize for Scientific Work (2004).
