The parties will also be organising events featuring Global Energy Prize laureates and RREDA experts, sessions and scientific and business conferences. Exchange of information about science and education projects of mutual interest is among other priorities.
“One of the nominations of the Global Energy Prize (which is given for research and developments improving the energy security of our planet) is about innovations in the non-traditional energy sphere. Hydropower plants, wind and solar generators, power plants operating on biomass and geothermal energy – these and other sources of clean energy are now playing a bigger role in the world energy mix, and one of the reasons is the need to provide power to the remote territories, where it is difficult to use fossil fuels”, Sergey Brilev, the President of the Global Energy Association, emphasised.
Russia’s Renewable Energy Development Association (RREDA) was created in 2015. It unites generating companies with cumulative share in Russian RES capacities exceeding 75%. Other members of RREDA include manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, research and financial institutions, which are participating in implementing RES projects together with developers and investors. RREDA sees its mission in facilitation of renewable energy development, including by forming favourable investment climate and transparent legal framework.
“Within our partnership we intend to organise comprehensive cooperation to facilitate active implementation of sustainable development standards and practices in the energy sector. Taking into account the scale of international activities of the Global Energy Association and ambitious plans of Russian Renewable Energy Development Association in expanding its global activities, in particular, along the lines of interacting with international organisations, we believe it is important to join our efforts and explore the potential areas for joint projects. The speed of world energy transition and technology development makes international cooperation and practices sharing extremely relevant, I am sure that knowledge and expertise accumulated in our Associations will be contributing to these processes to the maximum extent”, Alexey Zhikharev, the General Director of RREDA, stated.
