Professor Zi-Qiang Zhu was born on 23 September 1962 in Zhejiang Province, China. Today he is the head of the electrical machines and drives research team of the University of Sheffield.
Dr. Zhu is a globally recognized innovator in the sphere of electrical machines and drives designed for electricity generation and usage. Over the recent 40 years he made a significant contribution in the development of modern permanent magnet vehicles and drive systems for the electric transportation (electric cars, fully electrical aircrafts, high-speed trains) and household appliances (air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners). He is the owner of 96 patents; and 120 more are currently under review.
