The German government approved the law on facilitating the use of hydrogen.
This document is targeted at developing the hydrogen structure in the country and creating the entire chain of hydrogen market — from domestic production and imports to storing and transporting by pipelines.
According to the new law, hydrogen infrastructure projects will receive legal priority with respect to planning and approval; they will be classified as having “the paramount public interest”.
“The law introduces digitalization of services simplifying and facilitating the issue of hydrogen production permits, decreasing the bureaucratic impediments”, Katherine Reiche, the German Minister for Economy, believes.
The natural hydrogen production will also be optimized.
According to the estimates by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, the demand for hydrogen in the domestic market will achieve 95-130 TW*h by 2030, and about 50-70% (45-90 TW*h) of this amount will have to be imported. By 2045, the demand for hydrogen will grow up to 360-500 TW*h, and for its derivatives – up to 200 TW*h.
