Reducing carbon emissions entails not only risks – but also opportunities for the world economy. This was the key theme in a lecture delivered by Nobel Prize Winner Rae Kwon Chung on 2nd June at the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnical University.
On Thursday, Sergey Brilev, President of the Global Energy Association and a member of the MGIMO Alumni Association, took part in a meeting with Antonio Guterres, U.N. Secretary General. The meeting took place at the Moscow State institute of International Relations, where the U.N. secretary general was awarded an honorary doctorate.
Academia and industry share a symbiotic relationship. Academia produces graduates who are absorbed by industry. Industry, on the other hand, looks to academia for innovative solutions to its challenges. The Global Energy Association has completed its 2020/2021 nomination cycle and reception of candidatures for the prize of the same name, setting new records despite the pandemic. An unprecedented 36 countries are on the long list – three times the number in 2019 (12 at that time) and nearly twice the 2020 number (20 countries).
Plans call for the 2021 meeting of the Global Energy Association’s Global Prize International Award Committee meeting to take place in Kazan, in the republic of Tatarstan, in central Russia.
