The number of experts with the right to nominate for the award has increased 10 times compared to 2003 - it is 3000 people, and the number of countries united by the Global Energy Prize has increased 12-fold - today it is 90 states. The Global Energy Prize is constantly developing, its importance for the innovative development of world energy can not be overestimated. In its jubilee year, the prize accepts congratulations from its founders, partners, friends and colleagues. The team of the Global Energy Prize expresses gratitude to all the congratulations for sincere and kind words to the project!

It is a special pleasure for me to congratulate the whole team of the Global Energy Prize on the15-th anniversary since its initiation!

In life of an institution, it is a very short period time; however, during this period you have achieved a lot as the Global Energy Prize has become nowadays an internationally recognized award that embodies scientific achievement of the highest quality and strive for new knowledge.

Given this, I would like to commend you and your respective colleagues for your considerable efforts in establishing and promoting high standards of scientific research in such a vital area as energy. Science has always played a key role in bringing people together since it has no boarders. And in this context, I am glad that the Global Energy award was established by the Russian Federation.

I am especially pleased that this year a researcher from my country, Prof. Michael Gratzel, received this prestigious award. It really brings into the focus the good relations that Switzerland and Russia have always been enjoying!

Once again, I would like to wish you and your colleagues all the best in your honorable mission.

Embassador of Switzerland
