In 2017, the Global Energy Prize celebrates its 15th anniversary! This term is small from a historical point of view, but over these years a long way was passed. Over 15 years of the award’s existence, more than 736 candidates were nominated, and 35 outstanding scientists from 11 countries became its laureates. The number of experts with the right to nominate for the award has increased 10 times compared to 2003 - it is 3000 people, and the number of countries united by the Global Energy Prize has increased 12-fold - today it is 90 states. The Global Energy Prize is constantly developing, its importance for the innovative development of world energy can not be overestimated. In its jubilee year, the prize accepts congratulations from its founders, partners, friends and colleagues. The team of the Global Energy Prize expresses gratitude to all the congratulations for sincere and kind words to the project!

National Research University Higher School of Economics (hereinafter – NRU HSE) congratulates our kind friends and partners – the Global Energy Association – on the 15th anniversary of the Global Energy Prize.

For several years NRU HSE has been working closely with the Global Energy Association, including in the format of joint expert discussions and foresight sessions with the participation of laureates and members of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee. These events discussed the most important structural changes in the field of energy on the horizon until 2050, global trends and alternative development scenarios, breakthrough technologies and proposals on the state policy measures.

In this important year for the Global Energy Association, we would like to wish to multiply Your numerous achievements: do not slow down the growth, expand the network of experts and raise awareness, drawing attention to breakthrough researches and technologies in the field of energy.

I am confident, that the Prize Laureates and their developments will make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the world and Russian energy, promoting improvement of the energy safety, overcoming of “energy poverty” and reduction of the negative impacts on the environment and climate.
