The Global Energy Prize laureates 2015 will be announced on April 23rd
On April 23rd in 11 am, in TASS press-centre the Global Energy Prize laureates will be announced for the 13th time. The award acknowledges significant contributions in energy filed aimed at society’s energy problems solution. Quite often journalists call it “Energy Nobel”. 2015 laureates will be awarded by the President of Russia with golden medals. Besides that they will get a huge endowment sum – RUB 33 mln.
On April 21th the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee comprising of 25 distinguished scientists from 13 countries will meet to choose the 2015 laureates. The committee is headed by the renowned scientist, the Nobel peace prize winner Rodney John Allam from UK.
The final decision will be announced during the press-conference in Moscow, on the 23rd of April. Traditionally happy news will fly to the laureates over the phone. Journalists will get the chance to not only hear the first reactions of the winners, but also ask interesting questions. Also during the press-conference the 2015 short-list will be unveiled. It includes scinetist from 6 countries of the world. The events’ speakers will be the Nobel peace prize winner Rodney John Allam, RAS academician and member of Rosneft’s board of directors Nikolai Laverov, and top-managers of prize founding companies: Chairman of the Board of FGS UES Andrej Murov and Deputy General Director of Surgutneftegas Vyacheslav Nikiforov.
For the first time in 2015, not only laureates’ names will be announced at the press conference, but also the analysis of the latest trends in the industry. Two days before the event the leading minds of the planet - members of the GEP International Award Committee will meet at the so-called foresight session. Foresight session - is a system of innovative methods of brainstorming, where experts will identify new trends in the energy sector, will formulate forecasts and bring to light the most current technological breakthroughs. The outcome of the session will be announced by Maria Belova - renowned energy analyst, who was at the forefront of the Skolkovo energy center and now holds the position of one of the key experts of «VYGON consulting».
The award ceremony will traditionally take place within the framework of Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 19th.

Each year the award’s credibility grows, and the presentation ceremony is famous for its unique atmosphere of creativity, openness and scientific solidarity.”
Its worth to mention that this year the battle for the award will be strong as never before. The XIII nomination cycle resulted in a record number of submitted nominations – its quantity has doubled last years’ numbers. Besides that for the first time in history the unique right to nominate was given to approximately 100 international energy associations and professional organizations.
On the whole, for the 13-years history of existence, 31 scientist from 10 countries – Canada, France, Germany, Island, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Sweden, the UK and the USA – have become the Global Energy Prize laureates. They have been awarded for the global energy research, innovations to energy saving, and development of ecological aspect.
The Global Energy Prize has got the top-level recognition. It stimulates energy science development and demonstrates the importance of international energy cooperation, as well as the need for state and private investment in energy-provision, energy-efficiency and energy-security on the planet. Science achievements and technology should cooperate for the benefit of humankind in every country of the world.
