The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

The “Global Energy” passes the “Energy of Education” to the best Universities of Russia and CIS

Today the “Global Energy”, Non-profit Partnership’s President Igor Lobovsky has presented the “Energy of Education” Award to the best High Educational Institutions of the 3rd All-Russian championship in fuel and energy cases.

This championship is the only one in Russia and CIS practice-oriented industry education project for students. It is based on one of the most effective educational technologies - a method of cases - and takes place in the form of conferences that are being held in leading specialized universities of Russia and Kazakhstan.

The championship is initiated by the Non-Profit Partnership “The Youth Forum of Mining Leaders.” The “Global Energy”, Non-profit Partnership who is engaged in activities related to the support of young scientists, has established the “Energy of Education” Award in cooperation with it. The Award acknowledges institutions who are participating actively in the championship’s organization.

This year 7 universities were chosen among 30 institutions taking part in the contest. All the participants were divided into 3 leagues. The North Caucasus Federal University became the best organization within the electric power league. The Novosibirsk State Technical University was announced the 2nd laureate and the Tomsk Polytechnic University was acknowledged as 3rd laureate.

In the mining league the first place went to the Irkutsk National Research Technical University. The 2nd place was taken by the North-East Federal University named after M. Ammosov. The 3rd place was divided between the National University of mineral resource “Gorny” and the National Research Technological University “MISiS”.

Specialized institutions in geo-exploration have just begun participating in the championship. Due to the small amount of participants the winner was chosen only one. It was the North-Eastern State University.

Addressing the finalists of the championship the “Global Energy”, Non-profit Partnership’s President Igor Lobovsky has noted: “-  Not that long ago the Global Energy Prize laureates and the members of the GEP International Award Committee has held a foresight session. They have determined the global power mix up to 2050. According to them, fossil fuels will remain dominant in the structure – approximately 70%. In this case the future of the Youth working within this filed is absolutely guarantied for the next 35 years.”
