The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

Anniversary greetings

Today, on August, 22 our distinguished laureate – Rodney John Allam – is celebrating his 75 anniversary.

Creative mind of this researcher is full of ideas. He has found the way to compress carbon dioxide with its simultaneous purification from impurities. He also has developed a high-performance oxygen-fuel power system to upgrade power plants using pulverized coal.

In addition to the many technological fields in which Mr. Allam has worked as an inventor, adviser and consultant, he has participated actively in the production of future resources in the fields of power, electricity, fuel and other energy systems, with a focus on sustainability. Mr. Allam has participated in the development of new processes and new equipment for the production of gases and cryogenic liquids (O2, N2, Ar, CO, CO2, H2, He) and for the development of technologies for using these gases, including for electricity production and other uses in the power industry. That is what he has been awarded the Global Energy Prize-2012 for!

Besides that, he is the author of power stations on natural gas that are considered to be absolutely waste-free energy systems. The CO2 derived from energy production thanks to special technology is captured under the ground and not being emitted to the atmosphere. This seems a miracle now, but will be working in the nearest future. The first PS of this kind is being constructed now and is scheduled for operation in 2017.

The “Global Energy” team is grateful for Mr. Allam’s active participation in all Partnership’s initiatives and whishes him success in all his achievements. May global success be always on his research path for the benefit of all humankind!  Health, wealth and happiness to Mr. Allam!
