The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

The Global Energy Association and the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) discussed the terms of cooperation at SPIEF-2018

On May 24, 2018 the Global Energy Association started the first day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum with a business meeting along with its colleagues from the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). During the negotiations, the president of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergeev Alexander and the acting president of the Global Energy Association Ignatov Alexander discussed the prospects for cooperation and further signing of a partnership agreement.

In particular, the parties discussed the terms on providing mutual expert and consulting support. Members of the Academy will be involved in the examination and evaluation of works of the participants in the nomination process of the Global Energy Prize and the programs of the association. The Global Energy Association, in its turn, will provide expert advice from a broad database upon the request of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The parties also discussed a cooperation in the field of international ties and contacts development as well as joint work as experts in international projects. In addition, the participants of the discussion raised the question on the organization of joint scientific events and information cooperation for the promotion of the brands of the parties through the media.

The president of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexander Sergeev, stressed the importance of understanding where the energy is moving, assessing it as a difficult, and even scientific issue. In this regard, such international projects as the Global Energy Prize provide this vision and play an important role in popularization scientific knowledge, he noted.

“Our association has always supported basic studies initiated by the Academy. It should be noted that a few academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences became laureates of the Global Energy Prize in different years. We are convinced that our partnership will contribute to the promotion of science and the growth of quality research and development”, - mentioned Alexander Ignatov, acting President of the Global Energy Association.
