Mega Prize from Russia: The Global Energy Prize on the list of outstanding awards

The Global Energy Prize was entered into the list of ICDA (The International Congress of Distinguished Awards). In its prestige rating the Global Energy Prize is in the category of “mega prizes” for its laudable goals, practices exemplary and the overall prize fund.

The winner of the Energy of Breakthrough Contest 2018 was recognized

The Global Energy Association summed up the results of the IV All-Russian contest of implemented innovative projects in the field of energy, the Energy of Breakthrough. In 2018 the winner became Trinchenko Alexsey, Associate Professor of “Nuclear and Thermal Energy Department” of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The scientist will get an award in the amount of RUB 1 mln for environmental protection from harmful emissions of thermal electric power plants.

Silk Road Super Grid and Eco-Village will face the climate crisis challenge

The global climatic changes will become a great trial for the Silk Road countries. "By 2100 the average temperature on the planet can rise by 6°C. Even if the average temperature can be controled within 2°C (the targeted indicator set by the Paris Climate Agreement), Central Asian countries will be particularly sensitive to the negative impact of global warming. The threat of prolonged droughts, shortage of water resources, poor yields will be preserved, which in the long run will lead to more intensive migration of rural population to cities. Climate change will also affect urban infrastructure, which will subsequently affect the economy of cities", considers Rae Kwon Chung, the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee member, UN Secretary-General`s High-level Expert and Leaders Panel (HELP) on water and disasters, Adviser to the Chairman.

The Global Energy Prize laureate received a certificate of gratitude from Vladimir Putin

Russian ambassador to Iceland Anton Vasilev handed to Professor Thorsteinn Ingi Sigfusson, the 2007 Global Energy Prize laureate, Director General of the Innovation Center of Iceland, a certificate of gratitude from Russian President Vladimir Putin “for a major contribution to the development of international scientific cooperation”.


2nd July

The application period for the Energy of Youth contest has started

Starting from July 1 the Global Energy Association began accepting applications for participation in the XV All-Russian competition of youth research projects in the field of energy the Energy of Youth. The deadline for applications is September 14, 2018. The contest provides for three directions, where one winner will be determined. The winners will receive grants for RUB 1 million to continue their research. The total grant fund of the competition is RUB 3 million.
