The Global Energy Association, World Energy Council (WEC) and MIEP MGIMO hold negotiations on cooperation
The Global Energy Association, the World Energy Council and the MIEP MGIMO hosted a meeting in the International Institute of Energy Policy and Diplomacy (MIEP MGIMO). Recognizing the importance of international energy cooperation and issues of sustainable energy development, the parties discussed issues of mutually beneficial partnership and the possibility of joint initiatives.
Possible forms of interaction include expert data exchange for the purpose of sound professional conclusions on energy development, holding events with the participation of students of the institute, winners of the Global Energy Youth Program and participants of the WEC Future energy leaders program uniting talented young energy specialists from 70 countries. The key issue of the negotiations became the proposal to organize youth section of the upcoming XXV World Energy Congress, which will be held in 2022 in Russia with the help of the Global Energy Association and MIEP MGIMO.
“We have previously discussed our possibilities for mutual cooperation in organizing the Congress of 2022 and we are ready to unite the efforts of our experts and speakers to form an interesting agenda for the upcoming event,” the acting president of the Global Energy Association Alexander Ignatov noted.
Supporting his idea, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Global Energy Association, Vice-Chairman of the WEC Oleg Budargin said: "Given the extensive experience of the university in organizing various international events, as well as the Association’s capabilities, we will be happy to combine your potential in order to successfully implement the future congress in Russia. I believe that it is necessary to start developing a joint action plan as soon as possible."
In his turn, the WEC Secretary General Christopher Frei summarized: "We are a neutral organization and are always looking for new partnerships. With the Global Energy Association, we have already conducted a series of negotiations and outlined a joint work plan. We will be happy to work out a similar plan with MIEP MGIMO."
The parties emphasized the importance of experience exchange and development of bilateral relations in order to expand international energy cooperation and implementation of initiatives in the field of research.
