The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

The Global Energy Prize International Award Committee member will tell about RES in Asia

On May, 29 the Member of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee, Managing Director at Asia Renewables, Head of Greenpower Fuels and Principal at Conchubar Infrastructure Fund William Byun will hold a lecture at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, State University (MIPT). The lecture will be within the Energy of Knowledge Program since 15.00 till 16.30.

He is an expert in renewable energy and climate change project development. Sharing his time between Asia and the US, he has more than 30 years practice in managing and developing emerging markets investments and infrastructure projects, including in electric power, chemicals, and climate change in China, India, Northeast and Southeast Asia. In renewables, he has extensive “on-the-ground” experience in project development, investment and feasibility structuring in silos such as geothermal, biomass, R/R hydro, solar, etc. from Indonesia, Myanmar, China, Korea and across Asia with both private and public sector stakeholders. As part of the upcoming lecture, an outstanding expert will talk about renewable energy sources and technologies in Asia. Developing markets of the region, which are the center of sustainable growth and have large financial resources, which contributes to the increase in electricity generation.

William Il Byun is a member of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee. On May, 28 he and his colleagues of the Committee from 14 countries of the world will determine the 2019 laureates at the appropriate meeting. The names of the new laureates will be announced on May, 30 during the official press conference in the TASS.

Recall that the Energy of Knowledge Program is a series of interactive lectures of the Global Energy Prize laureates and other outstanding experts in the field of energy. Its purpose is to attract the attention of young audience to the issues of global energy and to inspire scientific research in the industry.
