Members of the International Award Committee will discuss important subjects of the power in MPEI

On May 27 and 29, members of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee members William Il Young Byun, Adnan Amine and Rodney John Allam will speak at the colloquium at the MPEI National Research University within the Energy of Knowledge Program of the Global Energy Association.

On May 27, the colloquium, which is to be held from 10.00 till 14.30, will be attended by experts Adnan Amine and William Il Young Byun. Honorary Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Adnan Amine will speak on the stimulation of the transport sector transformation, as well as on electric cars and renewable energy sources. Amine has 25 years of experience and recognized achievements in the international arena, primarily in the field of sustainable development, international energy, environmental policy, as well as an impressive record of service in the development and management of international organizations.

Apart from Amine’s presentation, another lecture will be delivered by William Il Young Byun, managing director of the Asia Renewables, head of the Greenpower Fuels, director of the Conchubar Infrastructure Fund. As part of the colloquium, he will speak on the renewable energy sources and technologies in Asia, as well as on the emerging markets of the region, becoming the center of sustainable growth and having large financial resources, which contributes to an increase in electricity generation. Byun specializes in the development of projects in the area of renewable energy and climate change. He has more than 30 years of experience in the development and management of new investment and infrastructure projects, including in the field of electric power, chemicals and environment in China, India, North-East and South-East Asia.

On May 29, there will be a lecture delivered by Rodney John Allam, laureate of the 2012 Global Energy Prize, partner of the 8 Rivers Capital, LLC, contributor to the reports of IPCC, awarded with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007. The scientist will speak on the technology, which permits to get inexpensive and clean energy from hydrocarbons. The event starts at 10.00. Allam is the lead author of the Special Report on Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In 2007, the scientist was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Besides, he is a holder of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), a famous chemical engineer, author of inventions in the field of energy supply. He became the Global Energy Prize laureate for the development of new processes, equipment for the production of gases and cryogenic liquids, as well as for the development and introduction of technologies for the production of electricity in energy systems.

Recall that the members of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee will meet with their colleagues from the committee from 14 world countries to determine the laureates of the Prize in 2019 at a relevant meeting on May 28. The names of the new laureates will be announced on May 30 during the official press conference in TASS.
