The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

RES development in Asia. Energy of Knowledge will take place in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology

On May 29, at 11.00 Dr. William Il Young Byun, member of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee, managing director of the Asia Renewables, head of the Greenpower Fuels, director of the Conchubar Infrastructure Fund, will speak at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The lecture will be held in the framework of the Energy of Knowledge Program of the Global Energy Association.

Dr. Byun specializes in the development of projects in the area of renewable energy and climate change. He has more than 30 years of experience in the development and management of new investment and infrastructure projects, including in the field of electric power, chemicals and environment in China, India, North-East and South-East Asia. As far as the field of renewable energy is concerned, he has extensive experience in the development, technical feasibility and attraction of investments (projects in the field of biomass processing, hydropower, solar and other types of “clean” energy) with participation of private and public sector stakeholders in Indonesia, Myanmar, China, Korea and throughout Asia.

As part of the upcoming lecture, the world-class expert will talk about renewable energy sources and technologies in Asia. The lecture will be also devoted to the emerging markets of the region, becoming the center of sustainable growth and having large financial resources, which contributes to an increase in electricity generation.

Dr. William Il Young Byun is a member of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee. On May 28, he, jointly with his colleagues from the committee from 14 world countries, will determine the laureates of the Prize in 2019 at a relevant meeting. The names of the new laureates will be announced on May 30 during the official press conference in TASS.

You will recall that the Energy of Knowledge Program is a series of interactive lectures by the laureates of the Global Energy Prize and other outstanding experts working in the field of energy. Its objective is to attract attention of the young audience to the issues of global energy and inspire them for scientific research in the industry.
