The Global Energy Association invites to take part in the Energy of Words
The Global Energy Association invites journalists from all over the world to take part in the Energy of Words International Media Contest. The contest is held to encourage media representatives and individual journalists covering the most pressing problems of modern energy. Applications are accepted from May 28 to July 26, 2019.
Only those materials are allowed to participate in the contest, which were published in the media from May 3, 2018 to May 27, 2019. Articles, opinion pieces, interviews published in newspapers, magazines, including those published online, television reports published on the Internet, special projects are accepted for consideration. The main criterion for evaluation - all materials should be devoted to the world energy sector.
Entries can be written in any language. An abstract describing the purpose of the material, the problems that are considered in the publication, the main theses and conclusions of the author should be attached to every submitted entry (in English, 400 words max). Applications are accepted on the website of the Global Energy Association in the section of the program.
The materials are evaluated according to the following criteria: the depth of the research topic, analytical approach, objectivity and unbiased research, the innovation of the proposed ideas and literary skills. Evaluation of the competition entries is carried out by an independent expert commission. The decision of the commission is final.
The winners will be announced in mid-August this year. They will have an opportunity to take part in all the events of the Global Energy Prize Laureate`s week in October 2019, during which the award ceremony will be held. In addition, they will be entitled to a number of exclusive interviews.
The 2018 winner of the Energy of Words International Media Contest was Canadian journalist Geoff Dembicki, author of Foreign Policy, Guardian, Vice and other publications. In his article “The Convenient Disappearance of Climate Change Denial in China. From Western plot to the party line, how China embraced climate science to become a green-energy powerhouse”, the author shows how the fact of global warming is rejected or recognized by states depending on economic interests and political position.
The Energy of Words International Media Contest is held by the Global Energy Association since 2004 and over the years it was attended by representatives of mass media from 4 continents: from South Korea, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Kenya, Nigeria, to the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany and the United States.
The winners of the contest in different years were journalists from such editorial staff as The Economist, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, The New York Times, The Bloomberg Markets Magazine, Kommersant, TASS, RIA Novosti, Channel One, Izvestia, Echo of Moscow and others.
