The top management of the Global Energy Association and World Energy Council recognized the importance of cooperation
Today, within the second day of the 24th World Energy Congress, the top management of the Global Energy Association held talks with a delegation of the World Energy Council led by its Chairman Yongun David Kim. The parties recognized the importance of joint initiatives and the need for cooperation.
The head of the Global Energy Association, Aleksandr Ignatov, gave a presentation on main activities of the company, told about the achievements of the Global Energy Prize laureates, showcased the goals of the international youth program, as well as plans for further development of the Global Energy Prize international discussion platform.
“By implementing projects for both young power engineers and eminent industry experts, we have united under our auspices different generations of scientists with a shared goal of development of technologies that will ensure a clean and sustainable future for all of us,”- said Aleksandr Ignatov.
Mr. Kim gave a high evaluation to the transparent nomination process of the Global Energy Prize, which is also confirmed by international rating organizations, and shared that he considers the mission of Global Energy Prize to be very important, while the main areas of the Global Energy Association`s activity - balanced and comprehensive. Especially strategically vital direction is the work with younger generations, as he noted.
Mr. Kim also assured that he is aiming to have a joint work with the Association within the framework of the 25th World Energy Congress, which will be held in 2022 in St. Petersburg.
Recognizing the importance of open dialogue and international cooperation in solving global energy problems, the parties also discussed integration projects in the energy sector.
Aleksandr Ignatov noted that the company plans to hold the future Global EnergyPrize Summit in the Asia-Pacific region, and that the Association considers the Asian market to be very promising for the deployment of large energy projects.
Oleg Budargin, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Global Energy Association, Vice-Chairman of WEC, added that Global Energy Association had already organized discussion work on issues relevant to the Asia-Pacific region. In particular, at the Eastern Economic Forum - 2018, it initiated a discussion on the need of creation of an interstate platform for implementing infrastructure projects, such as 'supergrids' aimed at integrating state energy systems.
Complementing to his idea, the Chairman of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee, adviser to the chairman of the High-Level Group of Experts on Water and Disasters under the UN`s Secretary-General Rae Kwon Chung noted that the session experts had come to a conclusion on the decisive role of science in the development of international energy cooperation. “It is scientists - developers of innovations who can offer new technological approaches and economic models that will take integration processes to a new level”, - he concluded.
