RECOGNISING OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS IN ENERGY

The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

The Gala reception in honour of the Global Energy Prize laureates

On October 3, 2019 the Global Energy Association organized a solemn gala reception in honor of the 2019 Global Energy Prize laureates – Pr. Frede Blaabjerg (Denmark) and Dr. Khalil Amine (USA). Within the gala reception the diplomas were handed to the laureates, the Energy of Inspiration was given to the laureates’ wives. The Energy of Words International Media Contest winners were awarded as well. The guests of the event became representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, member of the Global Energy Associations’ companies, the Russian Academy of Sciences, leading technical universities of the country, as well as industry experts.

During the official part of the gala reception, professors Khalil Amine and Frede Blaabjerg were awarded diplomas of laureates for their outstanding achievements in the development of world science and innovative technologies in the field of energy. Recall that the scientists are engaged in the development of technologies in areas related to solving infrastructure problems in the energy sector - issues of energy transfer and storage. Danish professor Frede Blaaberg, an expert in the field of power electronics, became the laureate in the nomination "Non-traditional energy ". The Global Energy Prize is awarded to him “for outstanding technical contributions to the design of power management systems enabling the integration of renewable power”. American professor Khalil Amine has won in the nomination “New ways of energy application”. He is the world record holder in the number of publications on the topic of rechargeable batteries. The prize was awarded to him “for outstanding contribution into the development of the efficient electrical energy storage technology".

Every year, the Global Energy Association gives the Energy of Inspiration to those people, who were alongside the Global Energy Prize laureates all the way of achieving their scientific achievement, they guarded and believed, supported and inspired. The symbol of the award has become the recognizable statuette of the Global Energy Prize, with a star attached to the heart. This year the award went to the muses of our laureates, their spouses – Mrs. Mathiasen Ina Vibeke and Mrs.Xu Xiaoping.

The Global Energy Association awarded the Energy of Words International Media Contest winners at the solemn gala evening as well. Each year the Association recognizes journalists from around the world, who through their work have made a significant contribution to the awareness and understanding of global energy issues, trends and solutions. The jury recognized the materials of three journalists for their analytical approach, the depth of research topics and literary skill. The winners are Andrei Reznichenko, Head of the scientific editorial office of the TASS news wire, author of a special project on how to use radiation technologies; Mauricio Godoi, Brazilian reporter of the energy portal CanalEnergia, his feature was dedicated to the analysis of the energy storage market in Brazil.Another winner of the contest - Matthew Veazey, senior editor of the US oil and gas portal Rigzone, could not attend the award ceremony personally, but received his share of congratulations and applauses.
