RECOGNISING OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS IN ENERGY

The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

The Global Energy Youth Program Award Ceremony will be held on December 12

The Global Energy Association has selected winners of its International Youth Program. Three scientists from Russia and representative from China won the contest. Each winner will receive a monetary award in amount of USD 16,000 (1 million rubles). This year's awards will be presented for developments in the field of energy-efficient technologies, methods of using organic renewable resources and studies of the influence of electromagnetic radiation on biological and industrial objects. The Award ceremony will be held on the 12th of December, 2019 at the All Russia Public Organization’s ‘Business Russia’ venue (7, bld. 1, Delegatskaya street).

The Global Energy Association has many years of successful experience in implementing grants and awards for young researchers from Russia. Since 2019 the Association has expand this initiative by launching the Global Energy Youth Program. ‘The support of young scientists creates the prerequisites for new scientific discoveries. А modern scientist needs not only personal financial support for the continuation of scientific activity, but also to be part of a high-quality scientific environment. That is exactly why we have brought the competition to the international level this year. It gives a great opportunity for participants to get acquainted with the world energy science, exchange experience in the development of advanced technologies with colleagues from other countries and get an expert assessment from the leaders of the international energy industry’, said the Head of the Association Alexander Ignatov.

This year three scientists have become the winners in the nomination ‘Idea’. The first international winner is Tianshu Ge (China). She is an Associate Professor at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. For the contest, she presented her project named ‘High-Efficient Dehumidification Air-conditioning Heat Pump System for Rail Transit Vehicles’. Another winner of the Global Energy Youth Program is Roman Mishnev, Research Associate at the Belgorod National Research University. His project ‘Promising Steel for Energy Efficiency in Thermal Power Plants’ won in the ‘Idea’ nomination, field of ‘Traditional energy’. The project named ‘Production of High-Quality Products from Bio-Oil Using Ru-Contained Catalysts’ was recognized as the most interesting development in the area of ‘Alternative Energy’. The author of the project is Evgeniy Naranov, Research worker at A.V.Topchiev Institute of Petrochemical Synthesis.

Evgeniy Titov, Associate Professor of the Department of ‘Electrification of Production and Life’ of Polzunov Altai State Technical University has become the winner in ‘Startup’ nomination in the area of ‘New Ways of Energy Application’. He participated in the contest with the project named ‘Intellectualized Monitoring System for Electromagnetic Compatibility’.

It is noteworthy, that in 2014 Evgeny Titov became the winner of the XI All-Russian contest of youth scientific projects in the field of energy, which has been held by the Global Energy Association since 2004. According to the scientist, this victory had become a starting point for his further achievements in science.

The Global Energy Youth Program Award Ceremony will be held together with the International Award Distributed Power Generation - Great Achievements ceremony. The fact that two ceremonies are being organized on the same platform is not a coincidence and serves a common goal - the formation of a single communication space in which young scientists can exchange generated ideas and learn about advanced developments in the energy industry.

The event will be held on the 12th of December, 2019 at the All Russia Public Organization’s ‘Business Russia’ venue (7, bld. 1, Delegatskaya street).
