Gazprom and Mongolia Signed a Memorandum of Intent on Pipeline to China
Memorandum of intent on creating a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to build a pipeline to China was signed on Tuesday by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee of PJSC Gazprom, and Yangugiyn Sodbaatar, Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia.
According to Gazprom information management, the signing was conducted as part of the business meeting of Alexey Miller and Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, Mongolia’s Prime Minister, via video conferencing.
The SPV will be established in Mongolia for developing a feasibility study of the project on constructing and operating cross-country gas line.
On December 5, 2019, Gazprom and the Government of Mongolia signed the memorandum of understanding. The document sets out a joint study of realising the project of Russia supplying pipeline gas to China through Mongolian territory.
The new export outlet will have the volume of up to 50 billion cubic metres of gas a year.
