Experts discussed a comprehensive approach in the development of world energy at the Global Energy Prize Summit.

The evolution of the world energy system requires new technologies for the extraction, processing and storage of energy resources, simultaneously changing the philosophy of their consumption. Experts of the VI Global Energy Prize Summit discussed why the development of such technologies is not only the solution of environmental problems, but also a new incentive for the global economy.

The event was held within the framework of the Russian Energy Week. Experts from four countries, including Russia, discussed Three E (Economics, Ecology, Energy) Synthesis Formation as a health factor of the Earth: The Hydrocarbon Époque – Opportunities for New Technology Development.

"The transition to green energy will increase the world GDP by 0.8% and create new jobs in the industry (about 26 million) by the middle of the 21st century," said the member of the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee, Director General of IRENA Adnan Amin (United Arab Emirates). He also noted that the transition to renewable energy sources is becoming more economically justified. According to forecasts, during the next decade, the cost of generating solar energy can be reduced by 60%, and for wind energy - by 35%. Therefore, already last year the capacity of generated renewable energy has increased to a record 161 GW.

Innovative technologies should promote the development of renewable energy sources. This was said by the laureate of the Global Energy Prize 2012, academician Boris Katorgin (Russia), Director of the Research Center “Energy Physics Systems” under the MAI. The expert emphasized that scientific research is extremely necessary in the field of solar energy, in particular, in increasing the efficiency of solar cells.

«It is necessary to create new layered sandwiches that absorb the entire spectrum of the solar light. Modernization of photocell materials is the main direction for the development of solar energy».

In addition, experts especially noted the need for a consistent approach and the introduction of innovations at all levels of world energy, including traditional.

"Progressive development of all types of energy - what we need, this is a system approach," said the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Global Energy Association, President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs  Alexander Shokhin (Russia). "We will be ready for any drastic change fuel and energy balance ".

Recall that the Global Energy Prize Summit is held annually since 2012 to discuss the acute problems of the energy industry, working out precise mechanisms and ways of their solutions and their communication to the public, as well as leading energy organizations of the planet. In 2017, the year of the 15th anniversary of the Global Energy Prize, the summit was held in a new format: the first day in Lyon (France) at the HQ of Euronews, the second day in Moscow (Russia) at the venue of the "Russian Energy Week".
