One of the winners of the 2018 Global Energy Prize has become, the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, ex-director of the RAS Institute of Thermophysics, Sergei Alekseenko (left behind a dozen other finalists, including Ilona Mask). The scientist told the Cherdak correspondent how to receive energy from the earth, what physical phenomenon led to the accident at the Sayano–Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station and how the thermal physics is related to astronomy and space weather.
