SERGEY ALEKSEENKO: "INEXHAUSTIBLE RESOURCE: WHAT SHOULD BE TOMORROW'S RUSSIAN ENERGY"

Sergey Alekseenko’s, the 2018 Global Energy Prize laureate, column on the future of RES in Russia.

Refuse the hydrocarbons`s burning is possible not only as a result of using the energy of the sun and wind — both garbage processing technology and even abandoned oil-wells will help.
In basic, the contribution of renewable energy in the world increased from 2% in 2003 to most 10% today, in five times during 15 years. The forecast for 2020 is 11.2%. That means that there is already a massive shift to alternative energy sources in many countries.

Sergey Alekseenko: “The planning index in Russia is 1% by 2020, which is not comparable with world average. It is necessary to increase the part of RES of the installed capacity to 5% by 2035. Otherwise we will be in back of the global trends forever and will not exist as a branch of economy”.
