Sergey Alekseenko: Kazakhstan should focus on renewable energy

Sergey Alekseenko, the 2018 Global Energy Prize laureate, RAS Academician, commented the opening of a  solar power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts in Sarani (Karaganda, Kazakhstan region). He believes that solar energy is the most promising direction in renewable energy as an alternative to fossil fuels.

It is important for different countries begin to set up solar stations. Kazakhstan has reserve of coal, but its usage leads to environmental problems. Kazakhstan has always been a supporter of innovative development, so it is not surprising that now the country is engaged in the development of solar energy.
